Archer Announces Additional Day of Hearings on Savings and Investment Proposals
Congressman Bill Archer (R-TX), Chairman of the Committee on
Ways and Means, today announced that the Committee will conduct an
additional day of hearings on Wednesday, February 1, 1995, on the
tax provisions in the Contract with America designed to encourage
greater savings and investment. In response to significant interest
on the part of the public in testifying on these issues, this
additional day of hearings has been scheduled in order to
accommodate as many witnesses as possible. Only members of the
public who, in accordance with prior press releases, have requested
to be heard and have been contacted by the Committee, will be
scheduled to testify on February 1. Other interested members of the
public are invited to submit written statements for the record of
these proceedings. The hearing will begin at 10:00 a.m., in the main
Committee hearing room, 1100 Longworth House Office Building.
All other details for the hearings remain the same. (See full
Committee Advisory No. FC-2, dated January 6, 1995.)
