IRS Picks 10 New Advisory Council Members

WASHINGTON - The Internal Revenue Service announced the selection of 10 new members of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (IRSAC), which provides an organized public forum for IRS officials and representatives of the public to discuss key tax administration issues.

Members are picked to represent the taxpaying public, tax professionals, small and large businesses, state tax administrations, and the payroll community. IRSAC was established in 1953 and provides the IRS Commissioner and division heads with important feedback, observations and suggestions.

“The new members bring a wide range of experience and tax administration knowledge to this important group," said Linda Stiff, Acting IRS Commissioner. "I look forward to working with IRSAC as it continues to provide the IRS with valuable feedback and insight."

IRSAC meets periodically and will submit a report to the IRS in November 2008 at a public meeting. IRSAC members generally serve a two to three-year term with a possible one-year extension. The 10 new participants will join 17 returning members in 2008.
