IRS Help Lines Open on Presidents' Day

WASHINGTON - The Internal Revenue Service will be working to help taxpayers on the upcoming Presidents' Day holiday. The IRS will open its toll-free assistance line -- 1-800-829- 1040 -- as well as its toll-free forms and publications line -1-800-829-3676 -- on Monday, February 16, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. local time. This means there will be no interruption of the expanded IRS toll-free customer service hours, Monday through Saturday, 16 hours a day.

IRS assistance resources available 24 hours a day include: the IRS home page at www.irs.ustreas.gov, with forms,publications, frequently asked tax questions, information on filing electronically, and much more; TaxFax, via fax machine at703-368-9694, with forms, instructions and other information available by return fax; and TeleTax, at 1-800-829-4477, with recorded information on 149 tax topics.

IRS walk-in offices will be closed for the holiday.
